The Alphabet

Katie is learning the alphabet.  I'd say that she knows just about all the letters on sight.  If she doesn't know the letter, she knows a word that starts with the letter.

It's pretty impressive.  She sees letters everywhere.  For example, today we were at Home Depot and she was shouting out, "M!  H!  O!"

Katie got a foam bathtub alphabet & number set from her Auntie/Uncle C. for Xmas and she loves playing with them.  It started with "C is for Cookie" and took off from there.

Most of the words-for-letters are quite normal.  You've got "Appie" for A, you've got "Boogie" for B.  Then you get to the letter V.

Katie's word for the letter V is "Gyna."  Yes, it's vagina.

But, you see it all works out.  Her word for P is "PeePee".  And in this case it doesn't mean urine, it means penis.

We had a conversation in the bathroom today and it went a little something like this:

Katie points at me and says, "Mommy Gyna."

I calmly answer, "Yes.  Mommy has a vagina."

She comes back with, "Katie Gyna."

I answer, "Yes.  Katie is a girl.  Katie has a vagina too."

She isn't done yet.  She shakes her head no and says, "Daddy Gyna."

I reply, "That's right.  Daddy no vagina.  He's a boy."

"Daddy PeePee!"  She puts on a big smile and walks away.

I am so proud.

March

What is it they say about March?

Cool like my Ganma and hoppy like a bunny?  Hmmm.  Doesn't sound quite right.

Anyways, March was a good month for me.  There were lots of "events" to keep me busy.  I HAVE to be busy.  HAVE TO.  Like, we always have to be going somewhere and doing something. I'm a restless sort of person.  I hate inactivity.

I DO like to take a time-out now and again to enjoy a nice read.  Here's me and my Ganma perusing the latest Martha Stewart Living magazine.  I liked this magazine a lot.  There were lots of pictures of Yummies in it.

When I'm not catching up on the latest cookie recipes and gardening tips, I like to hang out with all my Guys.

Man, we live in an awesome state.  This place is 30 minutes from my house.  Mountains.  Snow. Tree.  Dirt.  Tweet-Tweet.  Squirrel.  Grrr-Grrr.

In case you didn't know, I like to live life on the edge (with some help from Mommy).

WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!

As far as eating is concerned, I've decided to keep my Mommy and Daddy guessing.  Some days, I eat like a horse.  Some days, I don't want to eat anything at all.  Not even pasta and meatballs. But, every night at about 8:55pm (5 minutes before bedtime), I ask for Cheese.  I figure this way Mommy will feel good that I at least ate SOMETHING.

Oh, and if it isn't Cheese that I ask for before bed, it's Bread.  But it must have Butter on it and I must eat it while on my Daddy's shoulders.  He also must run around the house.  Sometimes, if I get enough butter stuck in his hair, he lets me put Shampoo on him.

This month, Daddy and I started to go to a Pool and Swim.  I have such a good time.  I'm supposed to be learning how to float and kick and blow bubbles.  But, honestly, I just like playing with the pool toys and hanging with my Daddy.

Pool water doesn't taste as good as bath water does.

One of the coolest parts of class is when we get to jump off this big platform into the water. Whoooooo-hooooooo!

And finally, last weekend the Easter Bunny spread his egg-crazy love all over the place.  We went to the zoo and I got to pick up Eggs.

Daddy had fun too.  He was my back-up Egg basket.

Hug.  Kiss.
Katie.

Easter 2008

Hi there.

Katie just woke up from her nap.  I promised her "babies" before she went to sleep, so she's here sitting on my lap looking at pictures.

That means that I can't really get into detail about our Easter weekend. Guess, I'll have to wait for another day.

In the meantime, enjoy this video of Katie's first Easter Day Egg Hunt!

The Ball

After my 10 minute dentist appointment this morning, Katie and I visited Huzbend at his office.

The reason for our visit: A diaper change.

The outcome of the visit: Obsession with a ball.

In order to keep Katie from ravishing his office, Huzbend brought out this rubber ball.  When you bounce it on the floor it flashes red lights.

Katie fell in love immediately.

It hasn't left her hand since.

It even ate lunch.

It munched on cheesy bread, blueberries and grapes.  It also took some sips of Katie's milk.  All relevant sound effects were provided by Katie.

Nothing of Importance

This is gonna be a quick post to let you know that we are still alive.   It's been a tad bit busy around here lately.

Last week, we had a wonderful visit from Ganma.  Ganma got to visit preschool and get some quality Katie time, I got to eat an entire rack of BBQ ribs made in a slow cooker, and Huzbend got to show off his knowledge of Seattle cuisine by taking us to Mario Batalis fathers butcher/salami shop.  A good time was had by all.

As is usual, Katie learned to say "Ganma" by the end of her stay.  She hasn't stopped talking about her since.  Whenever she hears a plane overhead the conversation goes something like this, "Ganma!  Plane.  Shooooooooosh (plane sound).  Sky.  Moon.  Home.  Mickey.  Hug."  I told Katie that Ganma had to go Bye-Bye in a plane to go back home.  And being a polite Ganma on a plane, she waved to the moon.  I also told her that Ganma lives right near Mickey Mouse and that she would give him a big hug.  She loves that story.

On Saturday, I got to watch Katie and Daddy participate in their swimming class.  It was just about the cutest thing ever.  They had such a good time splashing around in the pool.  Their swim lessons also happen to be held in the ritziest gym I have ever been in.  You kinda have to see it to believe it.  The women's locker room is larger than our house and had this Roman bath type atmosphere.  It's surreal.

I have to go back to the dentist on Thursday.  I have a bar attached to the back of my bottom teeth to keep them straight.  Part of the cement holding the bar broke off.  Sigh.

I have also been asked by our classes coordinator if I could help her out and write another article for our preschool monthly newsletter.  It's due on Sunday.  I haven't started it yet.  I really gotta get going on that.

I also love Chicken Pot Pie.  LOVE IT.  I think that it might be just as good as eggplant parmesan.  Really.  We had it for dinner on Sunday.  Then I had the leftovers for lunch yesterday and today.  Sadly, I have eaten it all.

Words

Katie here.

This is for my cuzzin, Joey.  From the videos I've seen, he's already working on that vocalization stuff.  So, words are the next thing to come.

What better way to learn new words than from my Totally Important Words That You Need To Know Flash Cards.  They only cost $19.95 (plus shipping and handling).  Oh yeah, and be sure to make your check out to "Baybee K.T. Enterprises."

Okay.  Here's a quick sample set.
