EASTER

The moment came the night before Easter. I knew it would happen eventually. But, in my imaginings of this situation, it was never ME that had to explain it. Ugh.

Katie asked, "When I wake up tomorrow will the Easter Bunny have already hid all the eggs?"

Well, I did it. I told the truth. But, you know what? She didn't really seem to care as long as she was still going to find eggs and get an Easter basket.

Okay. It was either that or she just chose to disregard my ugly truth and continued to think a pink bunny was going to sneak into our house.

It was egg crazy around here. First of all, Katie did not want to color eggs this year. She's figured out that real eggs are lame 'cause she can't even eat them. Only good things (like candy, stickers and money) come in little plastic eggs. So, I hid 24 plastic eggs to try to give Mikey a chance of finding a few. He found three or four, I think. He didn't really stand a chance. Katie brought her A game and found all the eggs in about 15 minutes.

I made the search for the baskets a little more complicated. Last year it was one step to the basket. This year I did two steps. I'll tell you, it's really hard to write Easter basket clues at 7 in the morning after a horrible nights sleep while simultaneously trying to stop Mikey from eating your Chapstick.

After our morning sugar rush, we headed over to the neighbor's house for brunch and an afternoon neighborhood egg hunt.

All in all, it was a great day. Katie inhaled her chocolate bunny and Mikey....well, he inhaled about 4 or 5 mini chocolate bars during the neighborhood egg hunt. It was not a good nap day for him.

Here are some vids and pics of our day. Enjoy!

And here's the neighborhood egg hunt:

Awful

Does anyone remember this?

Welp, I've done it again.

You would think that I learned my lesson the first time.

But, NOOOOOOOOOOO. I just ain't that bright.

It all starts like this: I think to myself, "Self.
Why spend $25 when it's just a quick snip and clip!
I can do this!"

All it took was one little slip up and Mikey can now
count himself amoungst such illustrious company as:

Titch, from the movie Krull...

...Prince Edmund, the Black Adder...

...and the of course, the unforgettable, Moe Howard.

Ugh.

I am so sorry, Mikey.

I guess I can be proud of one thing.

I was able to reproduce a bowl haircut without the use of a bowl.

Yay me.

The March Post

Boy. Let me tell you something. We went places and did things in March.
That's why it took me until April to post about it.

Besides the stuff you see here; we did the zoo, we did preschool stuff, we registered Katie for Kindergarten. She's getting so big. Sniffle. Ugh. Enough about that.

Here's the March rundown......

At the beginning of the month, Katie and I hopped on a plane and headed back East to the land of good pizza and fast drivers.

"Are we there yet?"

Upon arrival at Granma and Granpa's house, Katie was greeted with
a surprise......

"WHOA! TOTALLY COOL! MY VERY OWN TINKERBELL BED!!!!"

Of course, below is the real reason for the visit - it wasn't just the pizza.

It was for little Sophia. The newest cousin.

"Awwwwwwww."

A lot of popcorn was eaten (and spilled) that weekend.

"Um. There's a what behind me?"

We paid a visit to the Peabody Museum. Dinosaur bones and science galor.

Katie was in heaven.

"Look, Mommy. That triceratops only has one horn!"

"I like the pink one."

Katie made a new best friend on her trip.

She misses Harry.

She was sad to say goodbye to everyone, but nothing makes it
all better like chocolate pudding at an airport!

"MMMMMMMMMM."

When we got back, Katie wanted to share all the shells she
found back East with her preschool buddies.

You see, our beaches generally don't have
much sand (we have rocks) and we definitely don't have cool shells (just lots of gross seaweed) and maybe a seal or two.

Here is Katie, in playdoh form.

Made by the girl herself.

This is for Uncle Andrew.

THIS is steamies.

Mikey had a good month too. His language is exploding.
I think he learns a new word a day and has begun to link together
words to form short two and three word sentences.
For example, "I WANT DIS". That's a favorite of his.

Here he is figuring out how to go down a giant slide.

"YAAAA-HOOOOOO!"
Really. That is what he says.

I'm not sure what is going on here, but I put it here because it's cute.

Spring in the northwest is usually rainy and gray - just like fall - but a little warmer.

When the sun shines it's time to get outside and PLAY.

Here we are hitting the sand box.

And after playing hard in the dirt, it's time for a little
bubble bath or as Mikey likes to say,

"BUH-BULL!"

I will leave you with this.

Four year olds (at least my four year old) can be very ornery somtimes.

They like to say, "NO!" really loud and stamp their feet in an attempt to get their way.

Here's a picture of one such moment.

For those of you who have never seen the dark side, gaze now upon......

Katie's angry eyes!

October & November 2023

The next day was October 1st. We flew back home and were ready to rock October. October was a bit crazy. As I look at the calendar trying t...
