You know, sometimes I feel a bit like Captain Hook.
The kids were watching Jake and The Neverland Pirates yesterday.
The crew of the Jolly Roger were trying to be careful. They were tiptoeing around for some reason.
Most likely being sneaky snooks. They're good at that.
Anyways, Hook yells this,
"STOP TIPPYTOEING AROUND AND GET A MOVE ON!"
Sometimes, I HATE being the grown up.
I'm constantly up the kids butts about getting out the door to the bus, getting to preschool on time, picking up garbage, flushing the toilet, doing your homework, putting your clothes in the hamper, etc., etc., ETC!
Ugh.
Yes. I'm impatient.
Yes. I like to have "good form".
No. I do not have a hook on my left (or right, depending on the story) hand.
No. I do not have a tick-tocking crocodile drooling at my heels.
No. I do not plot to murder children in horrible ways.
Let me explain it this way.
As is custom, the person that plays George Darling in the play version of Peter Pan ALSO plays Captain Hook.
This is so the audience assumes that "all grown-ups are pirates".
Wendy runs away from her parents, specifically her Father, because it's more fun to have no rules. Makes sense.
But, sadly, me hearties, there has to be rules.
Sometimes, I think to myself, Peter Pan needs a good slap upside the head.
Just sayin'.
As to which version of Hook (JAS to his close friends) I resemble, I leave that up to you to decide.
There are many versions of the famed pirate, but they all have the same meaning.
Grown-ups = Evil.
Blasted barnacles!
