Quick One

Ohhhhhh, did Katie have pink eye!!

For - like - EVER!!

She was supposed to go back to school on Thursday, January 3rd.
We missed that day.
We missed the next day.
Surely she would recover over the weekend?

Nope.

She still had symptoms on Sunday afternoon.

I called the 24 hr. Consulting Nurse.

She recommended antibiotics and I said, "HELL, YEAH!  THIS KIDS NEEDS TO GET BACK TO SCHOOL!"

She ended up missing Monday too, 'cause I had to have her on antibiotics for 24 hours before releasing her into the public.

So, she got an extra three days (not counting the weekend) to play with Mikey.

They were up to all sorts of craziness.

Here they are, spying on me.

Katie went back to school on Tuesday and things were back to normal.

Huzbend, by the way, was bypassed by the goonkie eye.  Lucky basterd.

Wednesday was a preschool pajama party.

"Hmmmm.  Is this dance-worthy music or not?"

Katie was SO excited for the PJ Party.  Even more than Mikey.

She got to hang with some of her alumni preschool buddies.
(Each of whose siblings are currently in school with Mikey)

"It IS dance worthy!"

And here's Teacher Dorothy.

Kids love her.
Parents adore her.
I mean, even the ones who never saw her.

I hate knives.

They hurt.

I was prepping dinner last Thursday and let my mind wander.

BIG mistake.

I confused my left index finger with a potato.

Owie.

Getting cut with a knife makes me want to vomit.

I've seen a lot of blood (mostly animal, at the vet hospital) and nasty stuff (again at the vet hosptial),
but if I cut my own finger, I swoon like a tween-age girl looking
at a Justin Bieber poster.

It's been freezing or below freezing temps here in the PNW.

We're not used to this kinda cold.

But, it was sunny and so we decided to head on out on Saturday.

Mikey and Huzbend hit a park.....

....and Katie and I went ice skating.
(me in white coat, Katie to my left in pink coat and panda hat)

The last time we did this was back in December 2009 and it was prompted by Disney On Ice
(You can see the entry here.)

This latest attempt was prompted by me.  I wanted to go skating.

Katie and I had a great time.

It was a little crazy at first, because I had to hold her up and skate along.

But it started to come back and I was able at one point to turn around and skate backward (albeit extremely slowly), hold her hands and let her skate forwards.

She fell twice.  One time hard on her butt and the other wasn't so bad because I eased her down.

I hope we can go again.

We did three laps and she was done.
Cold feet and hands.

We ran to a nearby mall to warm up and find Mikey and Huzbend.

They had already succumbed to the cold.

And, now, 'cause I've got nothing else to talk about......

April 2024 - Part 2

I'm not gonna lie. The rest of April was about Cinderella and pretty much just Cinderella.  We arrived back from Mexico for the start of...
